A Stairway Walk in San Francisco

It was a beautiful day in San Francisco for a stairway walk. This is #5 in the Adah Bakalinsky's Stairway Walks in San Francisco.

We walked around the northern portion of Russian Hill which includes the George Sterling Park, the Alice Marble Tennis Courts, the famous curvy portion of Lombard Street, and 11 sets of stairways.  Some of our great views were of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island, and Coit Tower.

Santa Cruz Do It Yourself New Year's Eve Parade

We almost missed the parade because it started on time!  Stretching and reaching, the parade was, maybe, a block in length.  There were pretty girls with lit hula hoops, drummers, a sitar player, a stilt walker, a big white seagull, unicycle riders, bike riders, people in masks and costumes reminding us of Burning Man, folks with an agenda, and folks like us out to do something on New Year's Eve on a cold winter's night.

Short of the Town Clock the drummers and sitar managed a final beat for the hula hoopers and anyone wanting to dance before everyone just sort of drifted away.  At the Palomar with margaritas and beers in hands, we toasted out the old and in with the new (early).  Somewhere in the world it had just turned into 2011.
