We drove in to see some of the northern end of Fish River Canyon. Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon. Access to the canyon is very limited. If we wanted, we could hike or trail run between May and the middle of September provided we had a permit. This viewpoint was a great overview of a small section. If you click on the link, you can find a satellite map of the entire 100 mile canyon.
The overlook spot was a great place for a lunch provided you brought it with you.
About 88 miles to the southern end of Fish River Canyon is the hot springs of Ai-Ais.
The camping area wasn't crowded.
We walked a while along Fish River.
The hot spring origin of Ai-Ais.
The boys wanted to see if it really was hot. It was.
The main hot water pool was very large. People did not move around much in it.
Tennis anyone?
We are back on the road to South Africa.
