Into Namibia

Using the Ngoma Bridge we crossed the Chobe River into Namibia.  Several large baobab trees surrounded the Botswana border crossing.  Our truck is no longer pristine.

The Chobe River was high and wide.

The Caprivi Strip of Namibia had more thatch-roofed compounds than we had so far seen.

There were modern architectural government buildings.

Our destination for the night was camping at the Nandu River Safari Lodge at the far end of the strip.  Our campsite was near the river so we could spot and hear hippos calling.  It was nice to know that we would still see and hear animals along the way.

In the morning Jim was up early trying his hand at fishing.  I think the fish were still asleep.

The lodge had beautiful views of the river.

Cameron, the owner, built a unique bar to welcome his guests.

Our campsite was private and close to the nice ablution building which included a place to wash dishes and clothes.  Before we left, I bought a beautiful basket with a lid and a carved wooden bowl from a local artist.
