On The Road to Cape Town

Across the Orange River the Northern Cape province of South Africa begins.  Good-bye Namibia.

This largest province, Northern Cape, is more arid and less densely populated than the rest of South Africa.  We only saw an extremely small portion from this western highway.

Towns were few and far between.  Camping near Vanrhynsdorp, which is located in the Western Cape province, we could see a church.

Our caravan park had its own collection of found objects as well as a restaurant with internet connection.

Across the road from the caravan park was an ostrich farm.

The terrain remained similar but construction of bigger roads and bridges with concurrent traffic stoppages began along with sections of vineyards and farms.

We were not sure exactly what was being covered.  Grapes?  Produce?  It was their autumn.

Odds signs continued.

Water?  For Cape Town where rationing is required?  Farms and vineyards must use a lot.

The outskirts of Cape Town appeared with the ubiquitous satellite dishes everywhere.
We all need our access.
