Sea Lions Galapagos Style

Near sunset we first discovered the Galapagos sea lions next to and on the malecon.  We spent until dark watching and listening to these raucous offshoots of the California sea lions settle down for the night.  We went back as often as we could during our stay to check on them. It was so entertaining.

One large male kept busy watching and chasing off challengers.  Meanwhile, his very large harem of females and youngsters were snoozing, scratching, searching for nipples, scrambling over each other, or swimming in shallow pools to practice new skills.
